Went out for a 5 mile jog this morning, then breakfast and out on the bike. I was heading down the A286 from West Dean and chucked a right just before Lavant for Chilgrove. I moved out to the centre of the road, nothing behind me, hand out. There was a car coming towards me, it seemed like it was slowing down to let me cross, so I did, a bit quick, the road was wet (this right turn is almost a hairpin) next thing I was kissing it (the road). Lucky the car went straight on because usuall when they turn left onto that road , were I was lying, they fly.

My right elbow was a bit sore and the old pride was too. It was obviously totally my fault but lesson learnt and not to be forgotton!!!!!

Apart from that my garmin packed in but I know the ride was a hilly 13 miler which was a bit tough!

Glad to be sitting here typing this....

I had an off myself today, off my skates that is. Knocking around with some mates at hockey, and I checked him once, successfully, but went down myself. And there I'd been trying to play nice and gentle given that it was outdoors and damp, when he started the whole I'll knock you over business.

I was strictly forbidden from going on the club run this morning:sad: Mrs M told me it would be too icy, and to remember how I fell off on ice last year and hurt myself (as if I'd forgotten) and any way I wasn't going, she wasn't about to let me yadda yadda yadda:sad:;)
Was going to do some on my rollers, but couldn't be arsed, went up into the loft to get the Christmas deccies down instead. Bah, humbug...

Make sure you follow all H&S precautions when putting up Christmas decorations. ;)

very glad to hear you are ok.Sorry about the gps There is a huge pressure to get out of the way of other road users quickly today isn't there ;)
I've been dreading going out today
Your thread has decided me . I will give today's cycle a miss. Its not worth the risk as I have a serious back problem and I'm self employed.
I'll do some work round the house and have a nice roasty dinner instead. Have a great day everyone:biggrin:

Glad you're ok Jogger, and thanks to you and the other posters for reminding me that there is a least one compensation to being laid up with this stinking bronchitis!

Had a big slide on ice today, but somehow managed not to fall off. Luck more than skill, I think. Then I remembered a similar incident on the same road a few years back, maybe half a mile away. It must be jinxed!

Just the once? Came off twice today on the ice. The second time I came off I took an age to scramble back onto my feet so icy was the road. I've promised all at home that I won't be going out again on a day like today. Shame really , beautiful blue skies thos morning, crisp white hillsides and the first time in god knows how long that there was not a breath of wind

Clipped in or on flats?

In a temp of 0C I wear thick boots and use big flat pedals. Not very trendy, but I had warm feet and could use them to hit the road instead of my face!.
