At about 80 miles into a 100 miler I was halucinating Pork pies. I stopped at a Co-op where they had a 2 for 1 deal .
On my last 120 miler I stopped at a local Mrs Miggins pie shop for a Cornish pasty and an iced Danish ... ahh the good life ....
I once bought a Sausage Roll from Greggs, took one bite of it and the meat fell out of the middle leaving me with just the pastry, and even that was poor quality.
I know a cafe in Hampton in Arden which apparently sells very nice sausage rolls and cake..... And they'll warm the sausage roll for you as well...... Or so I've heard.....
The worst I've been to... Well I once went into a Macdonalds in the 1980s, I've never been back. More recently there was a cafe in Bloxwich (which shall remain nameless) they seem to have achieved 'fast food' by omitting to cook any of it.
Park Head Station - A nice cyclist's cafe/B&B on the C2C (NCN7) just east of Stanhope.
Its a nice 50 mile round trip from my place and it would be extremely rude if I didn't partake of a freshly cooked bacon butty and coffee, to assist the ride home.
I don't have a sweet tooth, but it does cater for you cake monsters !!
On a recent 3 day trip to the IoW and back, cream teas were definitely the order of the day. You just can't beat a nice freshly baked scone with jam and clotted cream
