Caad9 Vs Caad8

I want a Caad9 . Cant afford one, but I can get hold of a Caad8 (2010) , is it worth it, how good is the Caad8 vs Caad9 ? Would I wait for a second hand Caad9 to show up ?

CAAD9's might come down in price a bit since they released the CAAD10 maybe?

Based on ignorance, I'd imagine the difference between the CAAD8 and CAAD9 isnt that much, its just a later iteration of the frame with slight changes as far as I know. However, this may not be the case.

Put it this way, my CAAD 5 is a fantastic bike, so I reckon a CAAD 8 would be a rather lovely thing to own and ride!

I was under the impression that the caad9 was the better frame which has been replaced by the caad10. The caad8 is a beauty though so I dont think that you will be disapointed with any of them.

I have been pondering this very question for three weeks now with the added inclusion of the synapse. I ended up getting a synapse carbon and blowing my budget wide open lol

Unless you are a professional, you probably wouldn't notice the difference! It's all about marketing really.

I have a CAAD9. I haven't ridden a CAAD8 so I can't tell you from a personal perspective.

What I can compare it to is the Boardman comp I had previously. The CAAD9 beats it hands down. The frame is much more supple and creaks and groans less.

I have a CAAD9 and it really is awesome. Not ridden the CAAD8 but my mate who runs the bike shop at Scorton raves about how much better the CAAD9 frame is. Although that's obviously to his benefit as the owner!!

I also have a CAAD9 - the 2009 non BB30 version with 105 bits, and I can also attest to its alu ultralight awesomeness. Although my single speed is catching it up on mileage rapidly....

Really? The frame creaks and groans? I doubt it. You'd have something seriously wrong if that was the case. That sounds more like the way things are put together, i.e. headset, forks, bottom bracket etc. And can you really tell the difference in 'suppleness' between two aluminium frames? Really? I know people say these things, but again, the feel of the bike is usually down to geometry, set-up, wheels and tires...

It creaked and groaned relatively more than the CAAD 9. All bikes do to some extent.

I can tell the difference in the suppleness that's for sure.

The Cad8 comes with Sora groupset The Cad 9 comes with 105 but the bike is nearly double the price. If money was no object the 9 wins but I really cant see that its worth so much more than the 8.

Both have a good name.
