Interesting , according to a guy at work who`s scheme has just finished they even have the pd 11(?) form filled in for you and they have many people that is they way they will be doing it, if it turns out in a year that they want the full 25 % then i guess i will just have to suck it up.

Your employer has a legal obligation to complete the P11Ds, so that's not really relevant.

I'm not suggesting that your employer will change what they do, just that they are not allowed to fix the purchase price at the start of the contract because doing so invalidates their whole scheme.

And, I guess after the surprise that many have expressed when HMRC issued their guidance about the final purchase price, I'm also pointing out that tax regs can and do change.

The more i think about it the more i want to go for the better bike .

That's nothing to do with tax legislation, that's just being human.
