Do you really want to know ?? ha ha..........very very hard i found them, don't think i did enough training on 'proper' climbs if i'm honest, all i can say is get out on them hills

By the way, my mate who used a Tricross over this weekend managed perfectly, infact he was always the quickest up those pesky hills.......not even 1 puncture between the 3 of us either

I am currently off cycling but hope to be back by the end of the week ( bad back )
Going to have to hit the hills a bit more when I am back.
I am also really going to concentrate on what I eat as my weight loss has really slowed recently, less to carry up the hills should help.
Glad you had a good trip, you must be buzzing now its over :becool:

Nice one.

Good luck with that, i don't envy you doing that but full respect to you tho

To be honest the weather on the first day was just too hot really.....perfect for sitting in the back garden supping cold beers, not so ideal for lugging yourself up Whinlatter/Hartside etc ha ha

Just thought i'd tell everyone that after buying my first bike i'd had since i was a teenager (now almost 45 ) last August i completed the C2C Whitehaven to Tynemouth then onto Blyth (home) today.
We started off yesterday & finished off in Alston almost 78 miles later with about 6500 ft of climbing under our belts last night then today it was just a mere 67 miles back home with a bout 4000ft of climbing mainly done inbthe first 20 miles.....never even dreamed this would be possible 10 months ago & would like to thank everyone on this great forum for all the inspiration & advice i've had & also hope this shows some of the 'new starters' that with a little determination & hard work.......anything is possible i suppose !!

wow well done nice to hear what people can do gives us newbies hope !!!!!!

:bravo: congrats BOB knew you could do it ^_^ I see you went up the rookhope incline ...used that route 2010 with the g/f to avoid crawlyside  how was the condition of the track as some friends are thinking of going that way poss 2 weeks time

larry

Well to be honest i was out voted as i just wanted to stay on the road but we ended up off road on that section but i'm terrible on the rough stuff ha ha, the conditions were ok i suppose but it was a bit boggy further on towards the cafe, muddy puddles etc , i suppose it depends on weather conditions between now & then but yesterday it was ok.

Hardknott isn't on the normal C2C route. It goes to the top of Ennerdale, through Loweswater and over Whinlatter Pass.

The C2C sportive doesn't follow the "normal" route - think they felt it was too easy
It starts in Seascale, goes through the middle of the Lake district (inc, Hardknott and Wrynose). Over the Dales, and through the northern edge of the North York Moors to Whitby.

150 miles and shed loads of climbing......should be "interesting"

hi Kestevan
getting up hardknott is not that bad  the really bad bits are the bends as you get near the top there about 1in 3:ohmy:the going down the other side is not for the faint hearted :eek:make sure the brakes have new blocks ... pic is the going down side
