buying used ridgeback - £180 good value?

Hello,

I'm an inexperienced cyclist who's looking to buy a first proper bike, on a budget (sub £200, I'm hoping). Ideally I'd like to end up commuting on it (in London) although I'll have to build up a bit of confidence first!

I went round a few cycle shops today and came across a used Ridgeback Speed at camden cycles, going for £180. Not sure how old it is, but BF who is more knowledgeable about bikes reckoned it was in good condition.

Does it sound like good value? Only better deals I've seen are on gumtree, and lots of the adverts look quite dodgy TBH and often don't have much information...

Any thoughts/advice appreciated!

I've got a Ridgeback myself and I'm thoroughly happy with it !

I googled the speed just and under £200 seems a decent deal to me
