Thanks everyone for the help - at 1350 it was an absolute steal. I picked it up this afternoon but haven't had the chance to really give it a thorough ride, but Boy! does it fly. I had a huge grin plastered on my face for the entire journey home with it.

As for not using the hybrid to do a longer ride, I'm not entirely sure, I just thought a road bike such as this might make it an easier journey and I feel as though it's going to make a marked improvement in my speed and pace. The hybrid was permanently in the top gear, even on slopes and hills I found shifting down an unrewarding experience. This road bike however takes a huge sting out of the regular hills I travel on. And I'm not just glued to the top gear either.

Sounds like it just needed it's gears indexing, but I'm glad you're happy anyway. Bb

Rereading this, I'm still not getting it I'm afraid! Don't both bikes have approx the same gearing?
