With only 20-30min ride and you just beginning I am willing to bet you are just not used to riding a bike yet. I got sore when I started earlier this year (my bike is properly setup by my LBS) just today I did almost a 26 mile ride and had no pain in the saddle area.

As vickster says, padded seat covers are xx(

They scrunch up under you and cause more problems than they fix.

Take it back to Hellfrauds and swear at the guy who swears by them, then slap him with it. Stitching you up with that thing illustrates how poorly trained lots of their staff truly are :cursing:

Gonna take it a step at a time. Only just started biking but did have the nous to take the machine to my LBS for set up when I first got it. At £500 for a £1500 bike that was only 3 months old I thought it was a good buy. All I've done to it is taken the cleats off for some bog standard pedals but plan to put them back on further down the line. For a tenner am gonna go with the seat cover short term as although I take on board the points I am currently only doing half hour rides. If it cures the bum ache then job done, if I become a longer rider and it chaffs then I'll bin it. It certainly did have probably twice the padding that the shorts had.

+1 for dhb got bib tights and shorts from them and I'll be getting more. Once your bum gets used to it it will get better, then you'll go further and it'll be bad bum time again and so it goes on:laugh:

+ 1 for the dhb stuff its good gear for the money, the other two things that make a comfy ride are.. a good saddle and a saddle set at the right hight?
Plus of course a bit more riding that actully makes you less sore?

Don't ever shop in Halfrauds for bike stuff. They haven't got a clue there. LBS will have far more experience and will help you buy the right decent kit. Take the seat cover back and invest in decent quality bib shorts and a good seat.

Whilst also thinking about shorts and the saddle don't forget the anatomical adjustment you will need to go through!

There are two boney protrusions in you backside, one to the left and one to the right.Which right now are wondering what the hell you've done to them....... They are called your Ischial Tuberosities, but most people call them your "sit bones". They support nearly all of your weight when you are sitting and they will take some time to adjust to sitting on something as small as a bike saddle with all of tour weight on them! This is very normal and will ease with time and use.
