Building Cardio

Besides spin class, losing weight and building my core how can I build my endurance? I seem to have problems with my cardio and my ability to ride fast over long distances. The wind just killed me today. I just can't seem to keep up.

I think the wind killed everyone today . Myself I tend to get low , onto the drops and just focus at the road in front of me rather than focusing on the road ahead . You still need to look where you are going though  Ive just noticed your location , our wind was worse ;)

bahamas, I see my whole problem in your words! I also have spin classes booked throughout next week and will be off for a ride with my boyfriend soon (I might meet him at the top of the hill 10 minutes after he got there, if lucky!) and then we're off to Richmond Park (please, pray for my soul ) and I am also well aware this is far from enough so I got a four week exercise plan off my personal trainer yesterday that I aim to work on, at least, 3 times a week (4-5 would be ideal) that is solely a mix of cardio and resistance - one day each. she will be revising my progress in 2 weeks, and then at the end of the 4 to keep it going to elaborate a new one.
I am definitely not a fitness freak but I confess it seems doable. and I am also doing it mainly to get better fitness levels so I can ride my bike at the same ease I would a few years ago.

If you want I can be nice enough to write it down and send it to you, if that helps

Agree worth he above comments. I tend to have a standard set of training routes, 21.5 miles, 34 miles and 56 miles. In a perfect week. I would ride each of them at least once. However life isn't perfect, so I don't tend to go as far as I would like, especially when it is colder.

I tend to go flat out over the shorter route and a little bit slower on the longer routes. I find going fast on the short routes, helps on the longer routes, albeit at a slightly slower pace, but not too much slower and the longer routes also help the short routes.

I do slow down when it is colder, but I am looking forward to increasing the pace as it warms up slightly and is lighter a bit earlier and later. The summer bike will help too.

All in all, miles in the legs help. Push harder and for longer.

I cant imagine spin classes will build endurance significantly as they are under an hour.
As said above its miles in the legs which is needed initially

Please do write them down. I would be interested in them. I never ever have to worry about cold. I can ride all year round.
