Finally removed the surplus 52 Campag chainring and added some locking washers to make up the difference. Along with the other tweak to hold the chain in place on the sprocket (two large washers), the finished drivetrain:
I'm really pleased with this bike, but now there's 2" of snow on everything it's time for 2.2" Maxxis' on the mountain bike rather than 23mm slicks.
