I go along with this theory. I simply never have enough cash to buy a decent bike all in one go, so I get about one expensive component a month, and keep an eye out for cheap/free bits to fill in the gaps. What was meant to be my road bike (frame and forks from a skip) has gradually ended up becoming a light tourer, so obviously I need another one, with a double instead of a triple and minus the clutter. Got a frame on Ebay a while back and bought these today. As long as you don't rush it, you won't regret building your own.
