Hi All, I have had my triban 5 for about 6 weeks and am thinking of upgrading the Wheels and Tyres for the summer months - I have around £250 to spend on the upgrade, Im pretty new to Cycling so not sure what to get. I have already upgraded the saddle and pedals. Ive been looking at some Fulcrums and Conti GP4000's.

Any recommendations would be great

Thanks

I went with Fulcrum Raching 7 CX's on my Triban 3. Been really good, smooth and not had any issues with buckling due to hitting a really bad pothole in the dark which was filled with water. Lost my water bottle and unsaddled myself but the wheels are still true!
For that kind of money you could be looking at Fulcrum Racing Quattro's (£191 plus £5-6 P&P)

Is that the 5a? I got one around the same time and I'm loving it. What saddle did you go for? As a recommendation from SatNavSayStaightOn I got some winter wheels that I'm really happy with Shimano R501's. When I had my bike fit the guy doing it said they were great winter wheels :becool:. I also picked up some Gatorskins with that Halfords glitch although I only got an extra fiver of so £15.00 each.

This thread does raise an interesting question... Do I aim to get a summer bike or just summer wheels and tyres?

I cannot afford a second bike this year, so decided to try and have a winter set up (stock for the time being) and a summer set up

This is the saddle: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/selle-italia-slr-kit-carbonio-saddle-with-carbon-rails-2013/

Picked it up on Ebay on £63 used once - Was in immaculate condition, didnt really know what I was buying, but read good reviews

Just put on standard Shimano SPDS as pedals that had on a previous bike

FWIW Fulcrum Quattros and GP4000s are on my summer set up and I use the bomb proof (touchwood) 7s on my winter set up. When I put the Quattros on my TT PB came down by over 30secs.
Are you still running these Quattro's @HLaB ? Thinking of getting some myself. How do they compare to 7's?

Comfort, speed, strength..? Do you do short sprints and really push it, or long century-based dawdles and pootles?

What's your weight?
