I have a 2010 Specialized Allez elite, the one that comes with a white saddle and bar tape. I've changed the bar tape to black but I'm having saddle issues. As my rides are getting longer I'm thinking of trying a brooks, in black obviously but is there a brooks which will look ok on it without being laughed at?

I think it would look strange and wouldn't contemplate it - but why you should you place any importance to my opinion? If you fancy it, go for it.

You sure it's a Brooks you want?

I'm on the larger side and I keep seeing good recommendations for them 'for bigger arses!'

I have a B17 special on my 'modern bike'. At the end of the day when people see you on the bike your ass covers the saddle so as long as your comfortable - does it matter?

I guess not Garz, I have a brand new B17 in brown, gonna try that out for a while and if I get on with it I'll make the leap to a black one!

I put my aged flyer on the roadie and did a hilly sportive on it a while back, got one or two weird looks but at least my arse didn't hurt.:becool:

Brooks work well on any size arse but make sure you measure your sitbones. That is the best way to prevent an expensive mistake.

A large size arse does not equate to wide sitbones.

A have 6 brooks saddles, from the wide B67 to the narrow B15 Swallow and my two favourites are the Team Pro (after lots and lots of miles ^_^ ) and the Swallow. Two years ago I thought I needed a wider saddle when in fact, it was quite the opposite.

Here is some useful information on how to decide what saddle to try.

You'd be surprised how comfortable even the most 'racey' saddle are. I have Specialized Romin Pro saddles on all my bikes and despite being razor thin and very hard, are extremely comfortable (more so than my Brooks B17).

Do you have a LBS where you can try many different types out?
