What are the advantages of a Brooks saddle. Better to get the sprung version or the standard?

Also as an ex-metal bashers I wouldn't let anyone around with a camera who might be able to spec an alternative factory elsewhere.

I dunno, I've only got 8 all different models from a B5n to a limited edition Swallow titanium all just as comfy but really my B17n (narrow)is my fave

I love the unsprung Brooks saddles, and use them on 3 different bikes. Just so long as you angle them right, there is a tendency to slide forward otherwise. They don’t take long to break in, and just need a proofing every now and again.
Not for you if you are a weightweeny tho’.

I've now got a B17 and it's ok but not my most comfortable saddle. How long before it breaks in? It's deffo a well made piece of kit but as for comfort the jury is still out.

One if the few products left these days that are a genuine buy once keep always. Does exactly what it is designed for without the never ending 'tweaks' so many things seem to need these days. Carridice likewise.

Hadn't realised this iconic British company was owned by Selle Royal s.p.a. Also for there is not a lot of investment in plant/equipment so they could uplift it all and put it somewhere foreign without much effort.

I have two b17 and a spa nidd so I think I'm saddled for life.
Only one of the brooks is comfy though.... The spa is still rock hard too!

Three B17s here, a standard steel railed one that’s 21 years old and done more than 50000 miles, a 5 year old Ti framed one that’s very comfortable and a B17 special with steel frame and copper rivets. All are great and i ride without padded shorts. The two most recent ones are noticeably thinner in the leather but quicker to break in. It will be interesting to see how long they last.

Agree they are comfortable to use with normal clothes and are therefore ideal for an around town bike as well as audaxes etc.
I‘m happy to wear jeans on a brooks, whereas my fizik is only comfortable with cycling shorts.

My go to saddle manufacturer are Brooks. I can do comfy all dayers sitting on those. Never used the spring versions - typically B17. Just had a titanium one repaired and fitted it to my new Merida
