Anyone know the secret to moving the cable gatherer further back?
Mine is too far forward and touches the hinge lever when turning. My OCD hates this.
The long version:
I upgraded my 2015 Brompton with post-2017 handlebars and integrated shifters. Because pre-2015 H-models have a lower stem, I can't use the default cable lengths for the newer setup. I’ve spent hours (days!) trying to figure out the right cable lengths, and it’s driving me crazy.
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
- The lower front brake cable is fixed at 485mm, which determines the height of the cable gatherer from the bottom.
- I’ve tried various lengths for the upper section (the black cable in the picture). Shorter, longer—nothing helps.
- The old (pre-2017) handlebars sit about 4cm lower than the new ones. I thought shortening the cables by 4cm would solve it, but I was wrong.
From what I understand, the rear brake cable should pull the cable gatherer back, but it doesn’t seem to do much. I’m already on the shorter side for cable lengths, and if I cut it any shorter, it will go back in a straight line instead of forming the usual nice curve.
Any ideas?
