Ribble are worth looking at. We’ve owned a few, great value for money

Their hybrids are really expensive even 2nd hand, the OP wants something really cheap, they wont get a Ribble Hybrid for £150-£300.

Didn’t read it properly, if he’s after a hybrid I’d look at a Boardman Team Hybrid, they’re a reasonable spec with hydraulic brakes, FSA/Sram groupset and good value for money used.

I'd look for any bike that wasn't badly worn in terms of its components and that it was the correct size.
I think the Brand doesn't really matter that much.
