Brakes for a very narrow front fork

You're very welcome. Don't forget to fit a different straddle cable too if you go for them. The one supplied relies on the bosses being 76mm apart, not 50someodd.

I found this old thread because I have exactly the same problem (and I think exactly the same old brakes) on an Overbury's Connoisseur I bought in (err) 86. 55mm apart my bosses are, and only 13mm vertically between boss centres and the nearest rim edge. I've been wondering about the same suggested solutions too. So - did you get that old Galaxy rebraked, and if so what with?

You'll want old-school wide profile cantilever brakes, with post mount blocks that you can angle downwards enough, and with an extra long straddle cable, similar to those in post 12 (RecordAceFromNew). You would want a cable that has a nipple at one and a clamp at the other end.
Brakes that take blocks with a threaded stud (like the Tektro CR520) won't be any good as there's only a limited angle adjustment.

Maybe these Dia Compe would be OK.
