Brake Block/Pad...Update.

I would like to get better brakes on my bike as they are a bit wooden. The brake cali is an Axis 2.0 42mm-52mm.
Never having renewed these before I'm not sure which is better..
Can you advise me please?

"Kool-Stop Salmon" are oftentime mentioned when people enquire about brake blocks. I've never tried them as can't get a mortgage which probably proves the old adage you get what you pay for!.

Or Clarkes pads, never had any issues with these and they are cheaper than the Koolstops. Use the Clarkes on three of my bikes.

the ones i alluded to are cartridge inserts that fit inside your current pad holders - if not then you will have to buy some brake pad holders

Cartridge...Thats the word I was looking for.

I had a set of Clarkes pads from Halfords, I threw them away after a week.

Strange had them on bike for 5 months now and seem fine,stop me anyway with no problems.Mind you im super light

i've just ordered two 4 sets of pads - kool stop salmons for the alloys and swisstop yellows for the carbons

I may have just had a bad set, or more than likely I just didn't fit them correctly but it was enough to stop me a) buying pads from halfords; and b) stop buying Clarks.

If you are looking for just the rubber pads to go in Shimano compatible cartridges then have a look at Disco Brakes on this page.
The pads are very effective IME but wear out quicker than Kool-Stop, maybe even twice as quick....they are however less than a quarter the price !
Good choice of colours too.
I'm not so keen on their cartridges however - they are "too cheap" IMO.

They were on my hybrid - now the ice bike.
