Hi all

I appreciate the accepted convention is to seek advice prior to purchasing...anyhoo...

I got myself a Wilier GTR today from my LBS via the ubiquitous C2W. I've been out on it twice today, nothing strenuous as I've not ridden in 25 years, but so far it feels good and feels right.

A knowledgeable colleague felt there were better options at my price point that offered more / better kit, but during testing the Wilier felt as good as the Ridley and Giant that I tested, so I went for it ! TBH I probably would have been happy with any one of the three I've tried over the last week or so.

Planning to ease myself in gradually then join up for some club rides once I have a reasonable level of fitness.

Have to say I'm proper chuffed with the bike, just wish I'd rediscovered cycling sooner !

Cheers people ! Thanks for your words of encouragement.
Went out for a ride by myself this evening, but my word it was like sitting on a razor blade after a while, which made it difficult to completely enjoy the ride if I'm honest.

I'm curious how you got that on the CTW budget. My 2015 CTW purchase is a Wilier Izoard XP, although it's now got a different seatpost, stem, saddle, wheelset and is Ultegra:

It was on offer at my lbs at 1280 so 280 over my c2w budget. I paid the additional in cash.

I'm interested in what seat post and saddle you have and why you chose them?

Aha! My work does a strict £1k limit and the Izoard has some basic components to keep the cost down.

The seatpost is a Ritchey Comp 31.6mm with a spare Spesh Toupe saddle. I've also now got a Zipp stem with Ultegra groupset and Spesh bars from a Tarmac. The wheelset's been changed to a Veltec Speed set as well.

I swapped the kit to bring the overall weight down - and had most of the parts anyway. It's lost about 1.7kg from original weight.

All the original components are in a bag to be sold once the C2W payments are finished.
