Bottle cages

I'll be going on a 100 mile ride in June (see my signature!) and knowing that hydration is important I have attached a bottle cage to the downtube. However, I think I will need two bottle cages and I know that normally you could attach another bottle to the seat tube. However, my front mech is attached between the bolts for the bottle attachment (see pic)

Is there any bottle cages that I could attach on the seat tube? (the front mech attachment is almost abutting the bottom bolt) I know you can get attachments for the back of the saddle, but I will have a saddle bag here.
Ta!

My Giant SCR2.0 has a similar configuration - however, Giant supply longer bolts in this location with thick washers that make the cage "stand off" the tube enough to accommodate both it and the front mech bracket.

Might be worth trying to find some suitable washers and bolts...

Longer bolts isn't a problem as I have a supply, but surely that would mean that the cage body would only be fixed against the mech attachment and not the frame (and so would be wobbly!)?

My LBS sells one that has an adjustable clamp that will fit to any size post either vertically or horizontally. Looks chuffing horrible though but would do the job. If I can find it on line I will put the link on.

Bit of rubber round the frame tubing then couple of very tight zip ties

zip ties solve all problems

Theres a few things you can do, the best one is to add spacers between the bottle cage and the mounts. So then the bottle cage is away from the mech hanger.
Or just bodge it and put the cage on, tighten the bolts up so the cage mounts bend abit and it pushes against the mech and it will be fine.
Its the same on my Giant, the clamp for the front mech is between the bottle mounts, but Giant put washes on the bikes for this.
You might also be able to get away with putting your pump mount(if the mech is just bolted between the cage mounts, if its one that clamps around the frame then you wont be able to) on that mount so it pushes the bottle cage out enough for you to bolt it.
If you get what i mean.

Joe24, I think you've got it (actually this is probably what John the Monkey meant and I didn't quite get it! Doh!).

A few extra washers should bring the cage out enough to sit just flush with the mech clamp.

Sorted.

Thanks!;)

They do indeed! They have been lifesavers on my hybrid on a number of occasions!;)

You're missing the bit where I mention the washers, I think. Imagine a couple of 5mm or so thick plastic washers (enough to take the bolt heads out further than the mech bracket from the frame).

Aye, JTM, I did indeed miss the bit where you mentioned the washers. I have plenty of bolts and washers in the shed the right size so I just need to decide on a bottle cage.

Thank you kindly!

I have just received an e-mail from PBK, they are discounting a bottle cage with a significant addiitional discount. Somehow, I just do not think this will tempt you.

On the credit side, you get a free bottle.

I couldn't buy that, it would feel wrong, the name of the product just isn't big enough. If I'm going to spend a large amount I want the name loud and proud so that everyone knows.
