I had a plastic one break when on a sportive, had to ride with a bottle of drink in a back pocket .I use these,http://www.dhgate.com/product/black...road-bikes/239343910.html#s2-23-1b|2750060481
i bought mine a couple of years ago and still going strong. Don't like the plastic ones they always break, The metal wire ones work and last forever.
I always find it quite amusing when people get so hung up about the weight of a bottle cage, especially if they're willing / sucker enough to pay £30-40 for one. How much of a weight penalty can a £5 cage burden you with over something cost eight times as much? The two Zefal cages on my road bike spent the first 17 years of their life on my Kona MTB. It's so long ago that I bought them that I can't remember how much they cost, but it certainly wouldn't have been any more than £2-3 each. They (unsurprisingly) work fine, still look OK and are showing no signs of letting me down. Strangely it says Zefal Carbon on the side of them, but I'd be astounded if there was even the minutest percentage of the alleged miracle material in them.Sorry for what is most definitely a stupid question but does anyone have any recommendation for a pair of bottle cages or are they all pretty much the same. I'm not after carbon as my new Giant Defy 0 isn't but is there any difference in Giant versus elite versus topeak etc except price. are there any that are worth the extra?
I find it amusing that you refer to the weight saving in crisps . It probably explains why your not to bothered about it .I always find it quite amusing when people get so hung up about the weight of a bottle cage, especially if they're willing / sucker enough to pay £30-40 for one. If you find a bottle cage you're happy to have on your bike, even if you don't have to sell your house to close the deal, just buy it. One thing is for sure, you'll notice the 15gram weight penalty (perhaps equivalent to half a packet of crisps)of a cheap cage less than you'll notice the dent a £40 cage will make in your wallet.
That's a somewhat bizarre reply from someone who has never even met me. It suggests that because I used a reference of weight comparison that most people might be able to relate to, that you assume I must be some fat bloater who doesn't care about weight. You are wrong! If it makes you feel better (although it would seem you feel pretty good about yourself anyway) perhaps the weight saving would be equivalent to two segments of an orange, quarter of a stick of celery, or five pages of a Buddhist manual on how to live a perfect and faultless life!I find it amusing that you refer to the weight saving in crisps . I hope it's not a stupid question as I went through exactly the same .Sorry for what is most definitely a stupid question but does anyone have any recommendation for a pair of bottle cages or are they all pretty much the same. Careful of your blood pressure . Especially with your dietThat's a somewhat bizarre reply from someone who has never even met me.
