Sorry for what is most definitely a stupid question but does anyone have any recommendation for a pair of bottle cages or are they all pretty much the same. I'm not after carbon as my new Giant Defy 0 isn't but is there any difference in Giant versus elite versus topeak etc except price. are there any that are worth the extra?

I use the Elite ones with Camelback or Specialized bottles, spot on and good range of colours. I've never had a bottle come out, they are ok to pull the bottles out while moving (although I rarely do). As with all you do need to check the bolts are tight from time to time

My steel bike has Lezyne ones as they look class but the carbon and alu bikes get plastic

I've been trying the elite cannibal cages for a few weeks. Very impressed, easy in and out with the bottles and even keep the bottles on rocky off road sections.

Another Elite bottle cage fan here.

The Ciussi
same here.

tried a race-style bottle cage when i bought by carbon beauty; great until the rubber bit perished and left it rattling bottles like a baby's favourite toy.

lesson learned, and now sports the elite ciussis, the evolution of the elite cages that have served my other bike so well…

I've got the older gen Ciussi on my best bike in pale blue to match the bike - these have been going years. The latest gen is on my commuter. It just works.

I use the Ali/wire type. A friend who has the funkier looking Elite type, swears they're more difficult to get the bottle in/out of on the hoof. Neither of us has lost a bottle.

This one on my tourer two of actually. Adjustable but only to go to a smaller diameter. No problems removing/inserting. Gez

I had some rather fetching looking red anodised wire cages from Planet X, they matched my hubs and brakes. :girldance:
However they rattled like mad which resonated in my carbon frame, so when I stuffed the bike the other week and bent one of the said cages it gave me a great excuse to get some new ones. Currently using Tescos own brand, which are cheap and seem to be doing the job without rattling.
