I've been up Dukes Pass from the south. As far as I can recall it was a solid climb but not terrible. That would have been on my old road bike which didn't have a very low bottom gear. There was a bit of a kick to get onto it, IIRC - but you'll be going down that bit.

If you search dukes pass on you tube, there's a video of a guy getting the s-n descent badly wrong and going about 20 feet into the bracken
