Anyway, why do they call people in their fifties middle aged? Realistically you've only got, at best, a couple of good decades left. Even if you live past that you're watching day-time TV and smelling like boiled cabbage.

Blood on the tracks is a pretty fine place to stop. All of the suggestions so far pretty much sum up the best of his work since. However if you want to be a sad old bastard Completist then you may wish to consider his extensive series of bootleg releases. They are all superb, but then again I did the shaved hair MLC a long time ago!
