Hi, talking from personal experience, I'm on my second Team Carbon Road, (the first was a shocker and to put it bluntly I told
Halfords where they could shove it so they ordered me up a replacement from the factory) it's a fantastic bit of kit for the money. Based on the spec £ for £ you just can't beat it and it's a great ride.
A couple of things to look out for are the size, I was originally going to order a large but having been measured up at a proper bike shop I was sized up for a Trek 1.9 and it was the 56cm model that was spot on, when you look at top tube etc on the Boardman's it's the medium that comes in at pretty much the exact size of a Trek 56 not the large as you might expect, I think it's the sloping top tube on the Boardman that's miss leading making the seat post shorter.
Secondly is the bike assembly/setup, my local Halfords just couldn't setup the SRAM, no matter how many attempts they had they couldn't get it right. I gave up eventually and booked the bike into a local specialist shop "Ken Fosters Cycle Logic" in Chorlton and for £25.00 including vat and lube they did a full setup on it, as if it was one of their own bikes and since then it's ridden like a dream, the difference was amazing. They also pointed out there was no grease whatsoever in the bottom bracket, it was completely dry, now this isn't Halfords fault as such because the Boardman's arrive in a massive box fully built from the factory, the store really only need to put air in the tyres and check it over. This would have lead to a very short life for the BB.
My advise would be whatever you buy from Halfords take it straight to a LBS for a full check and setup, best £25 you'll spend. P.S I was on Halfords cycle to work scheme so had no choice but to buy from them. Good luck!
