Hi all,

Just bought the Boardman Team and thought I'd share my thoughts on it if anyone's interested.

I read the reviews of the Boardman Comp (all of them said good kit, v.good value for money and light) and went down to Halfords to check it out with a view to buying but instead really liked the look of the Boardman team and especially the feel of the SRAM rival groupset (better for my little hands).

Anyway, waited an hour for Halfords to set the bike up and rode it back home. I was expecting the worst since I've read all the stories about atrocious set-up from Halfords but it was actually not too bad. The gears weren't quite indexed right, however (I'm waiting for the cabling to stretch itself a little before going to my LBS to get it set up right).

Now I've had it for a week or so and taken it on a few rides my thoughts are that it's really quite light and responds well to a bit of power down but it's not really that twitchy (in a good way) - I can probably do without the very aggressive riding position (and that's with the aheadset flipped up) but I'll cope. The supplied tyres (continental ultra sport) are a little firm and 'shocky' but I'll also cope with that.

Still a little paranoid about sizing - I got myself measured at my LBS and when I went to Halfords I checked the top tube measurements (55.5 - bang on) but the top tube was a lot lower than perfect (slightly sloping frame and aggressive riding position). Still, I plumped or a medium (I'm 5' 10 and 3/4 / 179cm with quite short arms for my height) so I hope I chose correctly.

Anyway, if anyone's got any questions about this bike, shout!

How is the ride on our not so smooth roads.
I currently have an alu frame which is less than smooth when the going is less than smooth, but I live with it.

I could personally dither between the cheaper 105 kitted version and the SRAM... but when you drill down it is a mixture of Tiagra...
So I would go for SRAM as well.. despite the extra in price..

It looks a very nice weight on the spec.
It is on my shopping list 'cos I want to use my 15% BC discount.. but I would tick for home delivery methinks.

It's quite stiff (but not overly shaky) on unsmooth roads but I personally think that this may be more due to the tyres than the frame.

I've heard good and bad reports about SRAM and certainly the shifting takes a littel getting used to but once you've got it you've got it, if you know what I mean. The rear shifting is very quick, too. I don't really like the front mech shifting because it's a little hard to trim but that may just be the set-up.
