Duff bead join/ manufacturing defect for me too.
If the OP and his/her bike together are 100kg (and many are more than this), on 23s you should have the rear tyre at 130psi and the front at 110psi to minimise the chance of snakebites. 130psi is above your tyre's spec so logically use 25s or even 'narrow' 28s (my Conti GP4S are at 100psi actually only 26mm wide and their max spec psi is 115). This choice will be limited by the width your frame can accommodate. Why would a heavy bloke fit 23s? See the tyre pressure advice which has considerable pedigree, from the Bicycling Quarterly 2005 article, attached.

If I had to use those pressures or give up cycling then the bikes would have to go!

I weigh 180+ lbs at the moment and am always 165+ lbs. I ride at the pressures suggested on that chart for riders weighing 110-130 lbs.
Nah you'd just need bigger tyres. I've always wondered why you don't get more snakebites as I've noticed your tyres appearing under inflated.

Actually, I was only looking at the 23C tyres. I run them about 15-20 PSI lower than the pressures on that chart.

I have 25C tyres on my Cannondale and I run those at even lower pressures, but maybe only 10 PSI lower than those on the chart.

I don't get many snakebites because I watch where I am going! :okay: (I got one on my CX bike a couple of months back after letting my pressures fall way too far. I think I must have only had about 40 PSI in my 35Cs! I am now running them at 60-odd PSI.)
