I have a little red punto, that I use for emergency's only, this morning when I needed her to take my friend to hospital for an non emergency she wouldn't start. All the electrics have gone, I wouldn't mind but I spent £271 last month fixing the brakes and cylinders, new battery and MOT. There must be something draining the battery somewhere.

Now I feel bad for letting a friend down. Grrr

It won't make you feel any better but don't blame yourself and it's not you that let your friend down. Get the battery charged and then make sure you give the car a 'run' once in a while, it may help in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had this happen - turned out the boot wasn't fully closed, so the boot light had been on for the best part of a fortnight. Or maybe the battery's shot.

Car batteries need to not be completely discharged as they don't like it. They are only good for a short burst of starting current and then a long rest with the alternator supplying charge. Some of the vehicle electronics may be draining a tiny amount but that mounts up over time.

Either take the car for a regular run or, better for the environment, stick a battery charger on it weekly and top up the charge.

You may find that after a few complete discharges, the battery will not take a charge anymore and will need replacing.

Bin it and buy a Japanese car. Never buy a car made by people who care more about their lunch than they do about their job.

Must admit, I'm not sure how keen a professional Womble is on binning, well, anything really...;)

Some people are only happy when surrounded by malfunctioning junk. Ecologists mainly.

You should have done a Basil Fawlty and thrashed the car to within an inch of its life with a large branch:smile: It might not have made the car start but it would have made you feel better.

BTW my sister used to have an R-reg Fiat Punto and she had no end of problems with it including electrics

My car usually starts first time, I did help move a few things a week ago which did involve opening the boot. The Doctor said, I haven't closed the boot properly, its a new battery too, dam it. Anyway its on charge now, so will put some of your suggestions into practices, charging every week or so may be the idea.
