The Express has considerable form at these sort of predictions. I fondly remember - Enormous asteroid 'will' hit Earth.

Actually they keep doing it with the asteroids, predictions including 2032, 2028, 'this month' 'TODAY'

Similarly, and rather more regularly, they predict very harsh winter conditions (usually with associated gas shortages)

Yet it works, even with all the piss taking the article gets shared. It gets clicked on, and they get their ad money regardless of whether it's being read seriously, or to be pulled apart on a forum.

[QUOTE 4596887, member: 9609"]the 14 day GFS models are showing a major atlantic storm rolling in between xmas and new year, very windy, mild with possible flooding - so that is my prediction - get your sand bags ready for xmas.

So the "expert" weather forecaster is saying 70-80% chance of snow on Xmas Day in North of England.

But the bookies are offering odds of 5-1 or 6-1

So you can choose who to believe. The "expert" weather forecaster or the bookies who have a pretty good record in getting these sort of things right and are staking their own money on the outcome

The bookies have no more idea of the weather than anyone else. Odds are initially offered to attract the punters and are then altered according to the amount staked on any particular outcome in order to maximize profit or mitigate loss.

Make Britain grit again, surely?
What you did there.

I saw it.
