hi,

im planning on bleeding my brakes this week and have purchased the correct kit but it didnt come with a bleed block. does anyone know where to get a tektro specific bleed block or would other blocks be just as effective, as in here,

i dont really want to go this route building a block with credit card plastic, although i will if stuck, i just dont have enough old credit cards lying around, as in here,

does anyone know if wood is just as effective? and if so whats the best way to acquire the exact size for the bleed block to be?

someone suggests i use a 10mm allen wrench as a block? consequently will my block need to be 10mm wide? but then how long and how deep, could someone possibly measure theirs for me please?

thanks very much. mark

Anything can be used as a bleed block. It isn't a big deal. The ideal width of the little spacer can be calculated as follows: The thickness of the disc plus [the thickness of new pads for the caliper (total thickness, not just friction material) times two].

Otherwise, just work cleanly and bleed it with pads in and caliper on the disc. Another alternative if you want to work off the bike is to clamp a cone spanner (it is about as thick as a disc) in the caliper using the existing pads.
