I've come off because of my carelessness tram tracks. The ones in Croydon (Addiscome Rd), where the gap between the kerb-track reduces to almost nothing, so you have to cross the tracks at a very shallow angle, or do a sideways bunny hop. To make matters worse, builders had left a thin layer of sand over the road/tracks - I think I'd have been okay otherwise.
I've avoided that bit of road for years since.

I dropped my front wheel into the tram tracks at Bilston in the West Midlands about ten years ago. I was doing around 20mph and I went straight over the bars into a pedestrian fence with my head and left shoulder. I picked my helmet up off the floor in two pieces and I've still got a large scar on my shoulder. On the plus side, my bike was completely undamaged and the railings are still bent to this day. Every time I drive past I think "hey, I did that with my head".

Bordeaux has a new-ish tram network with some very hairy sections. It's supposed to be cycle-friendly city and there are loads of cyclists. Nevertheless in parts I got off and walked.

I've only fallen off once due to tracks, on Ipswich docks.

I guess you mean at the Tram stop? I only ever come along that road, when I'm cycling back home from Bromley South Station after a Friday Night Ride to the Coast out Whitstable way. Fairly dozy through sleep deprivation is probably not the best condition to be in when trying to hit the track at as large an angle as possible. I've survived so far though!

Yes but not those, and railway lines in the road which are much the same.

The last time it was on a hire bike in Brussels, but I can count to at least 6 occasions in different places over the past 40 years! Seems to be when attention moves to something immediate such as apedestrian stepping out or a car trying to push me off.

The Fleetwood to Blackpool tramway runs down Lord Street which is the main shopping/high street in my home town of Fleetwood. I fell off at a very young age and learnt my lesson. It's a bit dodgy coming off on a busy street and I suppose Fleetwood folk only do it the once..... ermmm.....fall off their bikes on the tram tracks that is

An exception to that is my touring buddie. He fell off crossing a railway bridge into Bosnia during the summer.... ouch..!!

When I was a little lad my grandad used to tell me about a pedestrian who fell on the prom at Blackpool and got his nose stuck in the rail.

They had to push him all the way to the points at Fleetwood to get him out.

I believed him
