bought a bikehut track pump this evening from Halfords. £20. Tested it at home and gauge is not accurate versus my two topeak frame mounted pumps and versus the gauge I use to check the car.

Will return it tomorrow. Have had a cheaper track pump before from them, which I still have, that has same problem.

Wondering if the boardman or the Joe blow they have, both about £30, would be any better?

How do you know which of your gauges is accurate? The Bikehut pump could be accurate and all the others could be wrong?

I have some other gauges, they all agree with the three I am using here. The other Halfords pump I still have exploded a tyre once, which led me to check its gauge versus my other gauges and come to this conclusion.

Do you know of a way to set up a reference standard?

Send it away for a calibration check to somewhere like this http://www.calibrate.co.uk/pressure-calibration/ but expect to pay a lot more than the purchase price.

How inaccurate do you think the gauge is? Can't you just add or subtract a correction factor to the reading?

It under reads at 110psi by 10psi and overreads at 60psi by 10psi. They are the only two points I checked. I don't want to have to pfaff around with correction. I would like a gauge I trust. So, it is going back.

I only have one track pump, a cheap but very cheerful Raleigh...I wonder if it reads right. Guess I will never know

Loch side.
Man has returned one of the watches. In modern parlance, I have a single version of the truth.
Confusius says: Man still unsure. He said still has two other watches.
