On a Motorhome discussion forum I saw a comment that one town had converted an empty shop to a bike storage facility (short term presumably) with e-bike charging points and a repair service.
Good idea?? I thought so.

Extremely good idea, trouble is the cost, a bit very nice small shop in Lincoln is around £3000 a month to rent, a minimum wage employee £2000 a month, insurance, rates, power, etc.

There's been one in Leicester for 10+ years, The Bike Park, it's in the cellars of the Town Hall right in the middle of the city even got Loos and showers/changing facility,
I suspect it's partly funded by the Council (i.e. low rent) but a quid a day or 50p for up to an hour and run by a bike shop (well a few over the years) only snag is it shuts at 6pm

One of several in Utrecht, many others throughout Netherlands, mainly at rail stations, so big some of them, you actually ride into them, some have lifts & escalators for bikes, bike repairs & servicing ,charging points too!
Parking for bikes is generally free, but open air, Covered parking is paid for.
