Hi
I am a very inexperienced rider and looking to buy my first bike since I was a kid. I want a road bike to ride around in Manhattan which is very flat. I will not be doing a lot of serious riding and some days will ride to work. I am 5'10" and was fitted at my local bike shop on a 54cm bike. The bike I want to order online only comes in a 52cm and a 55cm. Which size would be better to order?
THANKS!

I think a 55cm would be more suitable, if you feel you are over reaching you could swap the stem for a shorter one.

It would be helpful if you could lets us know which bike you were sized on and which you want to buy as we could find geometry charts and make comparisons.

Is the bike also available to try in another store somewhere locally?

What bike is it ?

The 55 is a closer number, and in my mind a 52 is a small, not a medium.

My Giant Defy is a Medium (54) and i am also the same height as you.

Do you know which bike you were sized on? Best bet is to look up the geometry and look at the top tube length. If they're relatively similar, you'll be able to adjust the stem length to bridge that gap.

Great! Thanks for all the help. I was leaning toward the 55cm because it was closer in size. I was fit on this set at free wheel

But I do not have a very large budget and it is too expensive for me so I was going to get this one

The 6KU has a shorter top tube than the equivalent Fuji so you'll be fine on the 55cm 6KU.
Great price and a cool looking set of wheels.

Yep, I'd go for a 55cm also. I'm 5ft 9 and have a 54 and 55cm bikes. Both are fine for me.
