Bike service

My first bike service Wednesday wish me luck, I have no idea what to expect. I love my bike and I believe that if you look after your bike it will look after you.

If you have looked after your bike then there shouldn't be much of a problem.

All the mechanic will do is check it over for things that may need tightening up, cables that have stretched, brake function and gear indexing
all are easy enough to do yourself with the right tools, and with the added satisfaction....you did it yourself.

I agree with Dangermouse, buy a book or look on youtube and learn to do it yourself (could save you a lot of money in the future if you start upgrading your bike)

Know your bike: on long rides it is unlikely to give trouble next to a repair shop! Most repairs are easy enough for a rider to do.

I hope it went well for you but as I'm sure you know by now there isn't really much to the first bike service.

I wasn't going to bother with mine and do it myself but my front hub developed a strange noise about the same time so took it along to have them check it out. Plus it gave me a great excuse to head out for a ride on a not so great day weather wise

Was this the free 6 week check or a paid for service? If the former, might as well get the shop to do it. If I ever keep a bike long enough for it to need servicing I'd pay as I have neither the time, inclination nor skill to do it myself!
