Hi there, anyone recommend a good place to get my BMC serviced? I have had a quick look on google for a BMC specialist, but having no joy. I daren't go to Evans, I need a place who knows what they are doing. I need a full strip down and one of my Mavic wheels need new bearings "cartridge" (if that is the best way to describe it), replaced. Thanks

Surely it's just a bike, so any decent bike shop will be fine. Whereabouts are you? If we know that, personal recommendations are easier to get.

And why not go to Evans? They're just a bike shop with lots of branches.

Just a bike?! shock horror!
i've had previous bikes go to Evans and come back scratched, also heard of badly serviced bikes. (i know its like reading teh reviews on Amazon where there is always someone who complains, but I'd like a good job done on my baby)

Ok, you don't want it scratched (neither would I, but technology wise there's nothing out of the ordinary, surely? In fact the shifters, brakes, wheels etc are made by companies other than BMC, so like I say, any decent LBS will do. So who have you got nearby?

What he said , in fact you should be able to do most of it yourself.

Also consider a mobile cycle service - they will come to you and save the hassle of getting to a shop.

As above, telling people where you are might help if you want good local recommendations & much servicing is pretty easily accomplished at home with a bit of time and youtube/park tools website if you aren't au-fait with it.

Is this really a thing?
Yes. We have a great mobile mechanic team in Manchester:

http://www.revolvemcr.com/

It started off with Dave and his trailer of tools working out of his house and has built up into a decent business, he's taken on staff, has a workshop for bigger jobs and people living further afield to get to, but still at its core is a very good bike tech, cycling to you and fixing or servicing your pride and joy where you are.

In some cities and bike-friendly areas, sure. One used to advertise by tying glossy business cards to signs on National Route 26 in North Somerset.

I live & learn. To be fair, I've never really lived in built-up areas, other than a couple of years in Toronto. I'm a bumpkin ;)
