Hello chilli
Just my own experience but I bought a giant rapid this year - flat bars. A san entry level bike its great, feels fast and comfortable with no complaints... but - sort of wish I had had taken the jump to the defy with drops due to the fact that I would like to have had more options on hand positions on longer rides.
you may still pick up defy for 375 quid if your lucky.
I would say that its all personal preference but you won't know just by sitting on it in your lbs.
good luck
