Bike ordered...now I need some advice for accessories!

Yes they told me lights come with it. I'll check them out and see how we get on. I don't intend to be out in the dark, but I guess anything is possible.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
I ordered the following.
The only other thing(s) I'd class as necessities are a) gloves and b) glasses. You can probably still pick up both of these things for only a small amount of dosh from your local Lidl. Gloves because normally your hands are the 1st thing you put down on the ground when you have an "off" and glasses because there's nothing much worse than an insect in the eye!!

Good point...I'll have a look for some.

Also I ordered these mudguards which have been fitted. (It can get muddy where I live)

I wouldn't know the difference! I just don't want mud all down my back, will they stop that from happening?
Some, yes, but not all. It all depends on how close you can get them to your wheel.
The problem with those guards is that they tend to be set quite high above the wheel and, because they're only fixed at one point they move from side to side (mostly the rear). Obviously once they're doing this they're not protecting you fully from spray. I believe most people on here go for a more "traditional-style" guard that can be mounted just above the tyre itself. Crud Racers seem to be popular. I use 700x42 SKS Blumels on my Boardman CX as I run 35mm wide treaded tyres in the winter and 28mm wide "slicks" in the warmer months.

Well the irony is this morning whilst fitting under seat bag to Mrs Hs triban, I notice that it has no rear light and no valve dust caps. So I phone the store I collected it from yesterday and say I'm missing these bits, they apologise they will send parts to me but they don't have any dust caps spare so will send me a set of two inner tubes with caps ! Result  I have to say on both occasions I have been to Decathlon their customer service is excellent.

Decathlon are awesome. So decent and well mannered. I like to think perhaps some of their staff get to read this since they tend to be cyclists. One of them (a friendly chap in Coventry called Lucasz) just phoned me to let me know the courier had arrived and just to confirm I was happy with everything before letting him go. He asked the guy when my delivery would get here for me, so apparently tomorrow I'll have my bike! Shame there's still snow on the roads! Good customer service makes for a pleasant shopping experience and promotes customer loyalty. Why don't all businesses work this way? (Ahem, Amazon and Lovefilm!)

Great to hear your experience mirrors mine. I got a call on Sunday to let me know my bike had arrived in store. It wasn't due until Wed/Thur this week. When I went in, I had a brilliant chat with one of their guys and had a top experience. I now consider Decathlon my LBS.

Same here, even though this particular store is 80 miles away and there is another Decathlon just 60 miles away.

By they way, did you buy a bike computer for your bike? Can't remember from the other threads? I've got this app on my android phone called strava which seems quite good, but I bet a computer is better. If you do have one, I'd like to know what you think of it, if it's worth it etc.

On my iPhone I use an app called MotionX which is very similar to Strava . Both appear to work well and very easy to use .
