But the Tesco's torches are a good compromise - yes the more money you chuck at it the better it gets generally but for not too much money you can get some reasonable lights which is what the average person on the road needs. I gave Mr Summerdays Ayup lights for Christmas and that is what he needs on an unlit path and he hasn't got brilliant eye sight - but they cost £150 ish.
For rear lights I was a fan of the Smart 1/2 Watt and then last year bought a BLT fantom XR9 which is a brighter light though they could do with improving the mount.
