Hi

My computer seems to be running out a bit, i cycled to work this morning a known route of 8 miles, however the computer showed it as 7.30 miles.

My tires are 26x1.95 and the computer is set to 2050

would reducing the 2050 settings bring it closer to the 8 mile mark?

Cheers

Different tyres by different manufacturers end up at slightly different diameters. If you want an accurate circumference for your tyre, you would need to measure it youself. Run a taylor's tape measure around the outside of the tyre or else take a piece of chalk and mark the tyre and the ground in relation to each other, wheel bike forward until wheel has completed one complete revolution and put a chalk mark on the ground and measure the distance between the two marks.

Your computer needs to record a greated distance for each revolution.

Thus, if you know that your route is exactly 8.00 miles, then set your computer to

2050 x 8.00 / 7.30

which gives 2246.6, or as close to that as your computer allows.
