I loved my Claude Butler classic for 3 years, I'ts heavyish but it is so comfy and lady friendly, and I think if you are new to cycling the comfort thing really matters and keeps you wanting to go out on it, and it's ladylike too so you can doll it up with some swish panniers that are coming onto the market now, if it's just short town hills its fine for that.

absolutely.

I bought a step through bike for my wife about ten years ago. She hadn't ridden a bike since she was a small child and she loved it. But...the more she loved it, the more she wanted to ride - so I bought her a lightish Dawes Discovery, a fabulous bike, and she loved it.....

But, the more she loved it, the more she wanted to ride, so she bought herself a Specialized Ruby Pro. Now, she is a really slow rider, but that doesn't mean the bike is wasted - far from it. She loves it. Mercifully there isn't anywhere else to go after this one.

My point is that if it's a success, the step-through will be its own undoing.
