How do you guys/gals look after yours?

Just looking to get a bit of an insight on keeping my impending bike in top to condition. I have seen a muc-off 8 piece cleaning kit which should take care of the cleaning bit.

The bit that I'm most interested in though are which lubricants and where to use/not use them? Can I use regular 3in1 oil on the chain etc or its there a specific lubricant for keeping things running sweet?

Any info in this field which I may find beneficial would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Bucket of warm water and some car shampoo with a wash mitt. Wash frame and wheels, then rinse with light pressure hose. Dry with old towels.

Every few rides, run the chain through an old towel to get the muck off and apply new lube. Drop the rear wheel out and clean the cassette. Clean chainrings.

3-in-1 works, but I use Finish Line wet lube (the green bottle). You only need a drop on each link and a small bottle has done me over 18 months.

Other than that, keep checking cables for fraying and brake pads for wear, that's pretty much it.
