Hi there Silverfox,
I'm one of those nearby members mgarl10024 refers to. What sort of riding are you into? I started cycling again in June last year, and did it mainly to keep weight off and get fit. What this means is that I'm happy to amble around at 10mph and enjoy the scenery, I'm not one for hitting the A roads and keeping up 20mph and doing intervals
I know you said you're not one for a club but just wanted to check....
Locally to you there is a group called Avon Valley Wheels. It's funded by the council and the organisers are great people. Unfortunately the council have just whipped the carpet out from under their feet and they'll be disbanded at the end of March. But I'd recommend trying one of their Saturday rides (they have ride levels on their website) and getting to know a few of the people there before they disappear - plus I'm sure some of them might try to organise something informal after March too.
Our area has got some great lanes for getting out in, I suppose it also depends how mobile you are - e.g. sometimes I find it useful to drive to somewhere like Dundas Aqueduct and push off from there.
If you ride like me I'm sure we can organise a trip out some place - I know a few routes.
