I want to start cycling and I was looking at a giant defy compact 4 road bike, are these good bikes?

The Defy range are considered good bikes, all get good reviews.

Decent bike for the money, though make sure you get the right size. Any bike, no matter how well specced, won't be much fun if it's the incorrect size.

Yeah defy 4 good bike I've got one. (triple though which i may change) Cant fit Gaurds and panniers easy After a while you may want to upgrade the groupset but no rush if your just getting back.
