Any glasses on your head can cause problems in an accident. One of my best mates nearly severed his ear leap frogging a parking meter - got over it (he was 20 stone) but landed badly, and the back came through his ear.

Hope the lass is OK.

Bloody Hell, she's in a right state! Looks like it hurt

You can't trust old people. I once saw an old lady bend down and pick up a penny. That wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't in the middle of a bus station with a bus literally about to knock her over and kill her...

Hope she gets well soon. Get her back on the bike as soon as she can before the confidence goes.

I hope Gemma makes a full recovery.

I would second informing the Police as the pedestrian (or her relatives/friends) might also do so and report it as a road traffic incident.

On my last fall my prescription glasses hit the road and, I guess, were only not further damaged due to my helmet taking the brunt of it.

I'm going to be honest here, and people won't like it. Theres not a lot of point informing us (the police) unless you intend to chase some civil claim against the old woman and need her details - and tbh, now after the event we wouldn't find her anyway.

Pedal Bike v Pedestrian doesn't count as a Road Traffic Collision. From the story, I don't think you feel the woman's actions were deliberate, so we wouldn't be able to consider assault/causing danger to road users. The incident would get a log, and simply be written off with little to no police action.

If you had called us to the scene we would have taken details, and you could have got those details from us later if you wished to pursue a civil claim for damages against her. Thats about it for this scenario.

Sorry  Hope your step daughter gets well soon, and gets back on the bike again asap!
