Leeds in it's wisdom have introduced parking charges at parks. So today as we went to B & Q we passed Roundhay Park, yes you have guessed it people are not going to pay,so parking on both sides of the road narrowing the road.

I've seen that, and it's not like there is a reliable transport system for people to use instead. Buses in Leeds are atrocious.

Compared to what? Two people visiting a museum, or any decent restuarant? (neither of which will last anywhere near 8 hours!) Let alone price with +2 kids for an activity ...

We've* got used to free access to many things in this country ...

*where WE means motorists.

Point taken entirely but to be pernickety, a lot of museums are free. Well, they're free if you can withstand the guilt tripping that you will be subjected to, and "suggested donations", plus the fact that there will often be special exhibits that have paid entry.

But yeah, apart from that bit of needless pedantry, point taken.
