I've been having a nose at the upcoming Aldi the sale and was wondering about bib pants. I know experienced people on here swear by them but what makes them so good?
I need more winter trousers and the Aldi /lidl gear is fine for my purposes. So, is it worth spending an extra tenner on the bibs or should I just get the standard trousers?
I'd appreciate people's thoughts, thanks

Lack of a waistband that I personally can't stand

Get the bibs. I have no problem with shorts that have a waistband, but all my winter longs are bibs. Very comfy and the material comes up higher onto the lower body too, no chance of having a gap develop between the trousers and jersey at the back (that would not be nice).

Not entirely sure. All my summer shorts have been the waist type, but unable to find anything I like the look of, I have bought a pair of bib tights for winter. I have never had problems with the waist digging in, or my back being exposed, but withhold judgement on the bibs until I've actually tried them..

I bought a pair off non-bibs years ago when I started cycling and thought they were a bit uncomfortable, but thought that it was just how it was.

I then bought bibshorts a few years later and realised that cycling could be so much more comfortable by changing to something more suited to the function.

Ooooh!
I find the waistband so annoying - maybe it's time for bibs!
Not so easy to pee in though, you have to undress...you can get them that sort of pull down at the back to slightly facilitate the process. Pearl Izumi have such a design and perhaps Gore

They look ridiculous on me (mankini with legs) but once you've got the rest of your gear on its fine. Id never be seen with just bib tights and I'd imagine they look much better on women.

I got some last Friday from Halfords and rode seven hours in them on Sunday, really good.

Roll up a trouser leg, or buy a pair with a low décolleté.

Bibs: no waistband, no gap between shorts and shirt, keep your back and kidneys warmer, more comfortable, the embarrassing bib straps can be hidden under your jersey. Buy some.
