Here for rides.
They have charged him which means the CPS are prosecuting.

Not strictly or entirely true. Loads of people get charged. Not all who get charged get prosecuted. Charges get dropped, or the prosecution offer no evidence, or a procedural cockup puts the whole thing out of bounds. Etc., etc..

Endless source of frustration to the better sort of plod.

lol just spotted this comment on youtube:

':/ Not a nice day when I see my farrier, old yard owner and very good friend of 6 years attacking a cyclist. Certainly won't be shoeing my horses anymore! Couldn't believe when my mate told me she'd seen him on crimewatch and was sure it was him, then we find out after seeing the video and knowing it was definately him that he handed himself in! Whatever happened to you '

Not quite right - the police and CPS have agreed to bring charges, the CPS are prosecuting, in that they are bringing legal proceedings against him. I think you are confusing 'prosecuted' with 'convicted'.

Why would his license be in question?

He could be disqualified from driving if he is done for Taking Without Consent, and I imagine he wasn't insured to drive the vehicle either.

Of course, that's assuming the vehicle owner doesn't suddenly remember he did give him permission to drive it after all

In which case the owner can get charged for letting someone drive his car that doesn't have insurance.

Not the sharpest tool in the box as far as his Internet footprint goes. His full DOB on his rather shabby Farrier business website:

http://www.jjfarriers.co.uk/about.html

"John Nicholls born on January 14th 1982 in Great Yarmouth."
