way from Manchester (Hyde End) to Rochdale ?

I am sure you can use the canal toll path, if you get as far as Milnrow call in at the Milnrow working mans club was a real good pint. moved from there about 6 years ago so dont know now.

Sorry , should have said, will be on a Carbon road bike and want a road route as its intended as a 110% effort, balls to the wall, training ride.
 
The quick way is up the A627 through Oldham and Royton but it can be busy

a more scenic and hillier ride would take you through

Mossley,Uppermill,Delph, Denshaw and Newhey and then onto Rochdale,

There's one or two steepish climbs but I can manage them on my fixed

So you'll be fine

If you want tough, head for Potts Shrigley, then up Blaze Hill, then head for Windgather, Goyt Valley, climb back out to cat and fiddle, then a variety of ways back.

Mossley Uppermill Delph is a good route out.

I did Woodley to near Rochdale the other week - mainly A road going via Oldham - pretty flat.
