Best opening line? Hmmmm, tough. "All of your friends are c**ts and your mother is a ballpoint pen thief" is pretty good, but my favourite is "I woke up this morning with a bad hangover, and my penis was missing again ... it's detachable, you see" from King Missile's "Detachable Penis".

Great Call, I hadn't thought to add Classical music. Have you ever sung it? I have several times in my youth. It's truly awesome to be part of a large choir with a full orchestra, listening to that long and windy intro that you feel is about to come to a halt just in time for you to let rip with all your might at the top of your register those big opening notes... after a few bars it goes into a completely different rhythmn.

The opening to "I was Glad" by Parry is similar too, great intro and vocal chord shattering opening. Great stuff good choral music.

Song openings - well how about Curtis Mayfield's 'Move on Up'? An unmistakable burst of sheer joy.

BTW, IMHO most mod and garage tracks in the 60s did what 'rawk' did, faster, dirtier and shorter - Spencer Davies Group's 'Keep on Running', with that most outrageously fuzzed guiter? And The Kinks' 'You Really Got Me' makes every rock riff that cam after it look flabby and unnecessary... or the genuinely nasty Count Five...
